I have ALWAYS wanted to sell real estate. It all started when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Back in Michigan, my parents wanted to move out of the city. Every Sunday we would drive around to open houses. It was a crazy time, late 1950s, a lot of post-war economic growth with housing developments going up in former corn fields and creating suburbs. I thought everyone spent their Sundays looking at houses for sale.
From my first house, as an adult, architect-designed and custom-built in East Lansing, Michigan, to a Cayuga Heights renovation, to a townhouse in Fremont California, back to Ithaca and a 1960s ranch which I transformed into an elegant entertaining house with a great view and an income apartment, to teaming up with my architect husband in his ahead-of-its-time Ellis Hollow contemporary, to my final, one-of-a-kind, perfect-for-us, Ellis Hollow hilltop home designed by my Bob and featured in Fine Homebuilding magazine in 2007, I know houses. I know what it is like to be in a new place and trying not to make a house-buying mistake. And I know what it is like to pack up a household, and look for a new job, and new friends, and worry about whether or not I’ll ever be at home again.
I’ll be there for you, because I know what you are concerned about. I’ll be there for you, because I know how to advise you, as a seller, to make the most of the property you want to sell.
I’ll be there for you, as a buyer, because I know the values of comparable houses when you find the one on which you want to make an offer. And I know about construction, and finishes, and mechanicals, and drainages. And when I don’t know, I know how to find out.
Every time I start with a new client, I make a commitment to bring all my education, knowledge, experience, sensitivity, empathy, insight, and foresight to bear on the challenge ahead, to your benefit.
For me, home ownership is a symbol of emotional maturity, self-respect, self-actualization, personal financial management, and commitment to the future. Home ownership can contribute to a solid base for children and a marriage. Home ownership contributes to building neighborhoods and communities and a proud country.
Making this all happen, one individual, one couple, one family at a time is the greatest professional and personal joy I could ever hope for. And I plan on doing it forever!
